Course Outline:The start/finish area is located on the playing fields to the rear of Holyrood Palace and only a short distance from the Scottish Parliament. This is on the north side of Holyrood Park of Queen's Drive. The course takes advantage of the excellent tarred surface as it follows Queen's Drive around Arthurs Seat. The route passes by the Salisbury Crags, the three lochs of Duddingston, Dunsapie and St Margaret’s and enjoys extensive views across Edinburgh. The start/finish area will be indicated by a large inflatable archway.

Area Description:
Holyrood Park is a 650 acre royal park a mile to the east of Edinburgh Castle. It has an array of hills and lochs and provides a remarkably wild piece of highland landscape.
Baggage:
Runners will be able to store baggage in a gazebo next to the start area, however there is no changing facility available.

Photographs:
A new feature for 2013 will be a Big Fun Run podium and backdrop where participants can pose for photographs after the event. This will be free of charge and you should bring your own camera/phone for this purpose. If you would like photographs of you on the course, please ask family or friends to take some for you.
In the interest of safety:
The Race Director and the Emergency Services reserve the right to stop the race at any time, if deemed necessary. These would be in circumstances beyond our control and no refunds would be given.
Further info:
There is no parking or vehicle access to Holyrood Park. Parking is available in the underground car park next to Dynamic Earth. Drop off points are Holyrood Park Road or Regent Road. Otherwise you may have to walk 10-15 minutes to the starting area so plan your journey accordingly. Pedestrian access is available via all entrances. Runners are encouraged to consider public transport or car sharing.
