Route:
Abbey Park is Leicester’s premier park and runners will quickly see why. Starting and finishing in the highly decorative Victorian part of the park, the route crosses over The River Soar to the west side of the Park that holds the historic Abbey grounds. Throughout the park there is an excellent network of tarred pathways that allow the runner to enjoy the evergreen shrubberies, trees a, lakes and formally planted gardens that make up the park. The route is flat throughout. Please note that the route may be subject to change.
Start/Finish area:
The start/finish area is located adjacent to the Band Stand to the east of Abbey Park. The nearest pedestrian access is via the gate on Abbey Park Road. The start/finish area will be indicated by a large inflatable archway.
Parking:
There is no parking or vehicle access within Abbey Park. There is limited parking available off Abbey Park road and St Margaret’s Way. Otherwise you may have to walk 10-15 minutes to the starting area so plan your journey accordingly. Pedestrian access is available via all entrances. Runners are encouraged to consider public transport or car sharing.
