The run starts and finishes on the grass area to the north west of Heaton Hall. After starting on a short stretch of grass, the course is run on tarmac until it returns to this section at the finish. As the runners approch the tarmac, the route turns right and heads south past Heaton Hall and on towards the lake. The route continues round the lake and then heads north east past the golf course and then swings back past the front of Heaton Hall where it turns north and back to the finish area.

Car parking is available with charge at St Margaret’s Road, Sheepfoot Lane or Smithy Lodge entrances. Pedestrian access is available via all entrances. Runners are encouraged to consider public transport or car sharing. Heaton Park is the biggest park in Manchester and the largest municipal park in Europe. It has a Grade I listed, 18th-century country house called Heaton Hall, 18-hole golf course with driving range, a boating lake, an animal farm, woodlands, ornamental gardens, an observatory, two playgrounds, a Papal monument and a volunteer-run tram system, restaurant and lakeside tea room combine to make Heaton one of the most popular family days out in the North West. For further information and travel/parking details at Heaton Park please click here.

The course starts and finishes on an open flat area of grass and from then onwards, the route remains on path throughout, until reaching the finish area. Apart from approximately 50m of grass at the start / finish, the Big Fun Run Manchester route is suitable for wheelchair users.

Got a question or need to pick up a number? Then visit our Help Desk tent where a member of our team will be able to help you. Runners will be able to store baggage at the help desk tent too, however there is no changing facility available.

Bring your own camera/phone to take photos on the day. If you would like photographs of you on the course, please ask family or friends to take some for you. Why not pose infront of the Big Fun Run Pyramid. And remember to smile!

The Event Director and the Emergency Services reserve the right to stop the race at any time, if deemed necessary. These would be in circumstances beyond our control and no refunds would be given.
