Big Fun Run is a series of 5k untimed runs staged within scenic settings throughout the UK from July to October. Run for fitness, run for charity, run for fun…just run!
There’s no pressure, just some easy moves and lots of laughs. It’s all about getting involved, having fun and enjoying the whole experience of the day.
When you arrive, make your way to the start and finish area – look out for the Big Fun Run pyramid and you’ll know you’ve reached the right place. Dress code is fun so wear whatever you like – fancy dress is always welcome however a comfortable pair of trainers is a must! Our friendly event team will be there to welcome you and play some great tunes to get you in the mood for some fun. Make sure that you arrive 15 minutes before the start to take part in the Big Fun Warm up. The event is not timed so don’t worry about rushing round.
There will be signage and marshals along the route to cheer you on and make sure no-one goes the wrong way. Once you come through the finish line you will be greeted by our friendly MC and finish team who will give you a bottle of water, an event goody bag and your well deserved Big Fun Run medal. Remember your camera or phone and why not make your way to the Big Fun Run pyramid where you can take your picture along with anyone you’ve come with.
Albert Park was donated to the people of Middlesbrough in 1868 by Henry Bolckow, one of the founders of the iron and steel industry on Teesside. The park covers an area of 30 hectares in the centre of Middlesbrough. The Park is Middlesbrough’s only Grade II listed Park in the English Heritage Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest. There are a wide range of facilities available within the Park including a Visitor’s Centre, Roller Skating Rink, Cafe, Swan hire on the Lake, Tennis Courts, Bowling Greens, Play Areas, Bandstand and much more. Some activities are seasonal so we recommend phoning in advance of your visit. Additional points of interest include the Bandstand, a statue of Brian Clough, the sundial, South African War Memorial and a canon from the Crimean War. Refreshments are available at the Visitor Centre (cold drinks and snacks). There is also a cafe attached to the Visitor Centre – this is externally run and provides hot and cold food and drinks.

Apart from one steep hill where assistance may be required to climb and descend, the Big Fun Run Middlesbrough route is suitable for wheelchairs.

Bring your own camera/phone to take photos on the day. If you would like photographs of you on the course, please ask family or friends to take some for you. Why not pose infront of the Big Fun Run Pyramid. And remember to smile!
